inTEST Corporation Announces a New Universal Positioning System

CHERRY HILL, N.J., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- inTEST Corporation (Nasdaq: INTT), a leading independent designer and manufacturer of interface solutions and temperature management products used in the testing of integrated circuits, today announced the introduction of the in2 Pro(TM) U45 Universal Positioning System. The new system was introduced at the Semicon/Europa trade show, which opened today at the Trade Fair Center in Munich, Germany.

Daniel J. Graham, Senior Vice President of inTEST commented, "The trend today in the semiconductor test equipment market is toward larger and heavier test heads on automatic test equipment. Recently designed test heads can exceed one thousand pounds in weight. Test head cable bundles, which connect the test head and the test system electronics, are also becoming more rigid and massive, weighing as much as several hundred pounds, and the length from the mainframe to test head is being reduced, putting additional stress on the cables. The in2 Pro(TM) U45 addresses the need for critical cable management and smooth, independently-controlled linear and rotational motions. At the same time, it provides six degrees of simultaneous motion freedom required for ease of docking and protection of delicate electrical interface components."

The new positioner is available either powered or unpowered for each axis of motion. The powered system has a hand-held control pendant, which enables the operator to position the test head from any convenient vantage point. The in2 Pro(TM) U45, thus, gives the operator more control and confidence when positioning very large test heads.
